Functional Therapies

What are functional therapies?

Functional therapies are a diverse group of therapies that Dr. Walters has acquired expertise in over the past 18 years. Mainstream-medicine doctors have a dismal track record when it comes to treating chronic health problems, especially chronic pain.

Functional therapies are effective in treating chronic pain (neural therapy, prolotherapy) and chronic fatigue, allergies and autoimmune issues (self-blood therapy, Meyer’s cocktail, nutrition). The problem of obesity can be effectively cured with Dr. Walters’ fat-loss program (hCG therapy) and the negative effects of chronic stress can be virtually eliminated with NuCalm therapy.

Medical Weight Loss

What is Medical Weight Loss?

Medical weight loss at iCONMED involves daily injections of hCG together with a prescribed diet. Dr. Walters has successfully treated more than 6,000 patients over the past 11 years using the hCG diet.

Why and When is Medical Weight Loss Beneficial?

Medical weight loss is beneficial when an individual has tried the usual diet and exercise programs with little or no success. Every one of our patients–who followed our program as instructed–were successful in losing a significant amount of weight.

How is it used?

Each patient is taught to do their own hCG injections and is given detailed verbal and written instructions on the program.

What to expect

Dr. Walters and his assistant, Karlie, spend 90 min teaching the patient how to have a successful program during the first visit. Follow-up visits are scheduled every 10 days until completion of the program. Males can expect to lose an average of 1 pound of fat per day and females typically lose between 0.5-1.0 pound per day.

Is it safe? Are there side-effects?

Over the course of 11 years, there have been no significant problems with the program. We obtain a CBC and CMP blood panels before you begin the program. If a problem is discovered from the blood work it is resolved before you are allowed to begin the program.

How to get started

To get started, call Karlie, at 719-544-0199, and she will schedule you for an appointment to begin the program.

Nutrition
Our advice regarding nutrition is very simple. We recommend one way of eating that will work for almost everyone who comes to our clinic. We recommend that everyone eat only whole, organic, non-processed food in moderate amounts.

Our preference is Paleo, as it eliminates virtually all processed food that both causes weight gain and creates chronic inflammation. When people eat this way after doing the hCG diet, we have not had a single patient gain the weight back. We will teach you how to successfully eat for optimal health.

Fitness & iCONMED Training Center

Dr. Walters has come to understand that done right, fitness provides a massive margin of protection against the ravages of time and disease. Fitness is essentially “super-wellness”. Sickness, wellness, and fitness are on a continuum and are all measures of the same entity, health.

For this reason, Dr. Walters has recently physically placed his medical practice inside his training center. His patients now have the exclusive opportunity to be taught by and train with Dr. Walters. Individuals who are not patients of Dr. Walters are not eligible for membership in his training center. Cost of membership is $200 per month.

Stress Reduction / Performance / Recovery Optimization with NuCalm

By allowing us to “balance and maintain the health of the human autonomic system,” NuCalm expands the reach of what we are able to achieve through deliberate efforts. In the past, optimal health may have been limited by what we could influence through thought, action, and ingestion, but NuCalm allows us to work with systems that would otherwise be outside our control. NuCalm can help us sleep better, control stress, improve healing, and achieve other effects that can expand the process of achieving our optimal health.

It helps us achieve optimal health for the mind as well as the body.

NuCalm recently put together a Case Study of how Dr. Walters uses NuCam to optimize his athletic performance and recovery »

Prolotherapy (restore joint function)

What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is a treatment that repairs damaged ligaments and tendons. Over the course of several treatments, joint function can be restored and pain either eliminated or reduced.

Why/When is it beneficial?

Since it can restore joints to full, normal function, it can eliminate the need for surgery and joint replacement.

How is prolotherapy it used?

The treatments consist of a series of injections into the damaged areas. On average, it takes 3-4 treatments–spaced a month apart–to fully repair a joint.

What to expect

The injections are mildly painful, and you can expect to have a mild to moderate increase in pain for 2-3 days following the treatment. It usually takes no more than 15-20 min per visit to do a single treatment.

Is it safe? Are there side effects?

As mentioned above, there will be a brief period of increased pain following each treatment. Over a period of weeks, there is usually an overall decrease in pain and an increase in range-of-motion with each treatment.  After 3-4 treatment,s most people will find that they are now pain-free with a joint that is fully functional.

Next steps to see if Prolotherapy is right for you:

You must be off all anti-inflammatory medicines for at least a week prior to prolotherapy treatment. Call us to schedule your first assessment and treatment.

Environmental Allergies & Autoimmune disease

iCONMED offers a natural, drug-free, treatment for environmental allergies and autoimmune diseases. It is called self-blood therapy. The origin of self-blood therapy dates back to experiments of the English physician William Highmore 1874.

We have treated hundreds of patients and have had improvement of symptoms in more than 95% of the patients treated.

Dr. Walters has used self-blood therapy to control his allergies for more than 15 years. Prior to self-blood therapy Dr. Walters had to take daily doses of Flonase and Zyrtec to control his allergies.

What are the next steps?

To schedule a functional therapy treatment just call us. We can usually get you scheduled the same day you call.
